Jennifer is one of the kindest most loving people you will ever meet. She’s a Seattle Native, growing up in the city. Jennifer attended private school through high school before going away to college in Washington D.C. and then gradate school in Massachusetts for a Masters degree in Social Work. Jennifer uses her education to help children, families and adults as an individual and family therapist. After Hurricane Katrina, she volunteered in New Orleans helping families cope with their devastating losses and to rebuild their lives. Jennifer has two young sisters and enjoys spending time with them whenever she can. Jennifer likes spending time with all kids, her sisters, the kids in our neighborhood and our grandson, and is very much at ease talking and playing with them. Jennifer has many hobbies including knitting, painting, and sewing. Music, travel and reading are also passions of hers. She’s made several things for friends and it always impresses me when she does things like knit a sweater for a baby. I can’t wait for her to be a mom, she will make a fantastic mom and look forward to being a parent with her.
Jennifer’s Thoughts on Kids and Adoption
I have always loved children and teenagers and known that I wanted to be a parent. I began babysitting in junior high as many people do and then in high school and the summers home from college had a job at the Boys & Girls Club as a childcare provider/camp counselor. During grad school I realized that one of my passions is helping kids and teens who have been through difficult times and I began focusing on working with them. Since 1999 I’ve been working providing counseling mainly to children, teens and families and I’m thrilled that I get paid to do something I’m good at and can make a difference in the world. I’ve been fortunate to work with many kids who have been adopted at all different ages and in different ways (internationally, in the US, open adoption, closed adoption, foster-adopt etc). Some were even going through the adoption process at the time we worked together and I’ve seen first hand how amazing adoption is.
